A commercial zipline is an engineered aerial ride in which riders travel along a tensioned steel cable between two anchored points, typically 100 m to over 1 km apart. Built correctly, it is the highest-visibility, highest-recall attraction a destination can install — and one of the fastest to reach payback. OXO Planet has delivered zipline systems across India and Nepal since 2019, from ₹15-lakh resort lines to a three-line, 1,120 m combined government flagship at Tawang.

All spans are stated as straight-line plan distance between towers, not cable length; cable length is greater in every case owing to catenary sag and slope.

Every OXO zipline is engineered to Indian structural codes and international ropes-course practice — IS 456 (reinforced concrete for foundations and anchor blocks), IS 800 (structural steel for towers and platforms); Member: ACCT International (since 2021), ATOAI, IAAPI. Components — wire rope, trolleys, harnesses and braking systems — are certified and sourced from Edelrid, Petzl, Kong, Head Rush and Camp. Load testing and documentation are handed over at commissioning, with operator training included.

How much does a zipline cost in India?

Commercial ziplines in India cost ₹15–25 lakh for entry-level lines (50–150 m), ₹25–45 lakh for mid-scale scenic lines, and ₹45 lakh+ for high-speed or custom projects. Natural elevation is the biggest cost saver — towers are typically the largest cost component at 40–60% of a tower-based project. GST and site development are extra.

What is the minimum space required?

Plan for at least 100 m of clear line and adequate elevation difference (typically 5–15 m) between launch and landing. Where natural height is unavailable, we design freestanding towers sized to the line geometry and target speeds.

How long can a zipline be?

Recreational ziplines typically run 100–150 m, while scenic lines can extend to 1 km+ with appropriate engineering. Longer lines require careful cable profiling and braking strategies, which we model during design. How long does installation take?

A standard 100–200 m zipline takes 6–10 weeks from design sign-off to commissioning. Complex terrain extends this — our three-line, 1,120 m Tawang project took 18 months including approvals and monsoon halts.

What approvals are needed for a commercial zipline in India?

Requirements vary by state, but typically include land-use permission from the local authority, a structural stability certificate from a chartered engineer, and public liability insurance. Tourism-department clearance applies at government and eco-tourism sites. OXO provides the engineering documentation needed for these approvals.

How safe is a zipline?

When designed and installed professionally, ziplines are very safe. We use certified cables, anchors and braking systems from Edelrid, Petzl, Kong, Head Rush and Camp, perform load testing, and provide documentation and training for daily operations.

What is the capacity per hour?

Expect 30–60 riders per hour depending on line length, boarding efficiency and staffing. Dual or two-way designs increase throughput.

How much revenue can a zipline generate?

At ₹300–500 per ride and 30–60 riders/hour, a well-located zipline generates ₹9,000–30,000 per operating hour at capacity. Many resort lines recover their investment within 18–36 months.

Can ziplines be built in urban areas?

Yes — rooftop-to-ground, stadium-to-plaza or tower-to-tower lines are feasible with engineered anchors and platforms. We built a 100 m rooftop-to-rooftop line between two buildings in Chennai. We also address crowd management and visual impact.

What is included / excluded in the cost?
